The world has lost another great one: Chadwick Boseman, and I find it incredibly hard to process. Among the many roles he has played, one of the most memorable is when he brought King T’Challa to life as the Black Panther in the “Black Panther.”
Oh how he moved so adroitly with such style and grace. What wasn’t to love about the Black Panther? After all, Boseman was like that friend or brother in our head. So cool, chill, and one who many respected and admired. One that we felt had it together. But, how can someone who was once so alive be deprived of said life?
Some of the top stories about Boseman’s life and legacy:
Boseman’s narrative would however forever change on August 28, 2020. August 28, as we know it, would be the day that he transcended. The day we knew that there would be no more Boseman to portray the incredible roles that he has done in his lifetime. The day we lost another great and talented BLACK man. The day that Boseman’s narrative would forever take on a historical note.
Death has a way of creating some really deep soul searching and reflecting. Did Boseman know that his time was nigh? Were his friends or family aware that his days were numbered? A post on his Twitter page (confirming his death) noted that he was in fact diagnosed with stage III colon cancer back in 2016, which later developed into stage IV colon cancer.
Recent photos of Boseman depicted him looking rather gaunt. There were speculations on what caused this sudden change, but his condition wasn’t confirmed at the time.
With the little I know, I sense that Boseman did it his way. He lived his life: a life that was full, and a life that was inspiring. At this moment, there is little use questioning his unexpected passing. Instead, we have to be grateful that though brief, Boseman was gifted to us, and was a blessing to many while he shared this earth with us.
RIP my brother.
