Let’s talk about the greatness that is Sheryl Lee Ralph.

At the age of 65, this icon won her first Emmy for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series. Significantly, she also gave one of the greatest acceptance speeches that I have ever seen, reminding others to never give up on themselves. This is poignant and really affirms my path over the past few years. Indeed, this is part of the reason I have been missing in action at times.

Ralph’s win and eventual recognition by her peers really emphasizes that you’re not on anyone’s timeline. A true testament that your achievements and success do not lie under the control of your naysayers, but rather, under the power of a greater force up above.

The Jamaican blood running through her veins makes me even more proud given our shared identity. I just had to stop by to celebrate this moment with this inspirational Queen and emphasize the importance of never giving up on yourself.
